Indoor Flying - Friday Nights
We have some dates for Indoor flying at the Miller Center in the North End of Burlington.
Times are 6-9pm Dates we have are Nov. 4, Nov. 18, Dec. 2, & Dec 16.
Rates are the same as last year $15 per night / pilot. If attendance is meager, that may have to be adjusted upward.
The Miller Center address is 130 Gosse Ct., Burlington, VT.
Would like to know who is interested and if you're coming.
Also mailed the Barnstormers to let them know.
No One Else Coming? Have I misjudged the interest for this event 71 reads and 1 response.
So far I know of 4 of us showing up this Friday. Matt, Wayne, Mark and myself.
I plan on being there!
I'll be there Al. Bob F
I'm gonna try to make it out. Not sure what I'll fly. Might just come and watch, but happy to chip in for the space.
I will be there. New toy to play with!
I'll be there with a new t-28!
Gonna resurrect the Index 2 Custom 27" or crash trying. You know same-ole s!#t
I hope I am ready for it.
Got the new mCPX parts installed last night, test flown in my basement with 7' ceilings... there is a LOT of power... and not a lot of headroom. You thought the mCPX was touchy before... wait till you see this!
Also on a side note, I'll only be at flying for 1.5-2 hours, I got concert tix to higher ground.
Just got things patched up from last week. Indoor is a challenge. Now I am practicing on my simulator.
And yet again I will miss this Friday's indoor flying. Have fun you guys!
Oh Man, that sucks.
I've been putting out feelers for what day and time is better for the dozen or so that are particpating or would like to particpate in the indoor flying sessions.
I think we can get Sunday mornings or afternoons as a alternative choice to Friday nights. Most that I've talked to have said that Sunday's are OK.
I'm in favor of Sunday afternoons myself. I've heard Sunday mornings from a few. Would Sunday's be better for you?
Anyone else who reads these forums, would Sundays work out better for you too? If so, AM or PM?
( Also wanted to inform non-GMRC members that the indoor sessions are open to any AMA registered pilots who would like a chance to fly during the winter season. )
I think when we schedule January that we should stagger, so one is friday night, and one is sunday (I vote morning), on the last feeler post we got some for both friday and sunday, I dont think we'll ever get a consensus.. maybe after feb. we could schedule march/ 1st half of april to fit what days more people are attending?
I would choose Sunday morning> Sunday afternoon, Friday afternoon.
Sunday AM or PM are good for me .
Prefer Sunday either time but I can make most Friday's
Ain't it cute, gets it's maiden this Friday ....... looks like it could be a bit twitchy.

It is Tiny! I'll bring the twin.
ahh man, I got excited for a second I saw you say "twin" and thought... ohh no mark's done it again, a Twin motor EPP foamie? but then realized you meant the Mini Piaget and excitement diminished.
Good idea, we could build a twin engine indoor pretty easy, hum.....
Id say that is a challenge. Let's see it Mark. Tomorrow night!
How about differential thrust for the tight turns?
Yeah! linking the rudder to each motor for some thrust vectoring style turns
twin engine sounds great!
I got my mcfoamy yesterday, no chance I'll have it built, plus i don't have batteries yet.
I also have a transmitter mitt coming from HK so that will help.
For me I like the friday night thing, but could do sunday early, though when snow flies that'll be hard. I'd also say other week nights besides weds are good.
I used differential thrust linked to the rudder on a float plane instead of a water rudder. A switch disables the feature for flight. The flight becomes very exciting if I forget to throw the switch once airborne. It is a bit tricky to implement this feature as one prop must be retarded while the other is advanced in a turn.
Seems like it could be accomplished by two speed controllers hooked to independant channels, then use two p.mixes that both link rudder to each throttle channel.
Yes, two ESCs are required on two channels. The + voltage from one of them should be disconnected (cut the wire) so that the BECs can't interfere with each other. The throttle channel is mixed with an unused channel that is connected to the 2nd ESC. Then the rudder channel must be mixed + with the throttle channel and - with the 2nd ESC channel or visa versa depending on which is port or starboard. The mixing must be switchable to avoid unintend consequences during the flight. I can supply detailed instructions for a DX7 if desired.
Super night for indoor. Gaggle hover, planes everywhere and a shark attack !

I will be there for all but Dec 2nd
Also lets get these on the calendar
I will update the paypal "Pay Now" to include a "Indoor Fun fly Fee" option for $16 (Price with Fees), obviously you can still send payment as a "Personal Gift" for the $15 manually, or pay check / cash to Fred / Whichever officer is handling money for the event.
